BACKGROUND
Today, about 78% of mental health providers experience burnout. There is typically only 1 provider for over 12,000 patients, and these mental health care providers screen positive for depression 16% of the time. It’s estimated that 81% of physicians in all health categories work above their capacity and feel over-extended at their care practices.
CHALLENGE
Mental health providers are overstretched and feel burned out. As a result, providers are unable to do their job well and patients are not receiving the care they need to stay engaged with their treatment plan.
COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Similar products on the market, mainly those that record patient data outside of clinic visits, did not offer a rewards system directly from the provider.
USER ASSUMPTIONS
“Although decisions in UX design shouldn’t be based on assumptions, it’s important to use generalizations to prioritize effectively.” -David Dikman, UX Magazine
Due to our time constraint, we decided not to conduct user research and focused on forming assumptions about our users. Given more time, we would validate these assumptions with user interviews.
